autumn morning

Bloomington, Minnesota

we walk slow,
or at least wish we could,
smell a sunrise,
read the cloud patterns,
the outlined shadow terrain,
i would swim miles if i could,
worked so hard,
became so heavy,
dense lead bone structure sinks too easy,
i sink too easy
